With the New Year pending, the lights of the season are full and bright in Victoria, BC. So enjoyed wandering the streets after dusk, just as mush as through the day.
Saw a version of the Nutcracker by the Pacific Ballet Company. Great performance by a relatively new local touring company. Not a large cast though still captured the feel of the ballet. Was nice to have one of the directors come out to introduce the experience and interactivity is allowed, applaud the nutcracker and boo at the mouse king. Fabulous way to encourage younger audience members to be excited and open to an old ballet.
With the holiday season in full swing, the Government house was lit with red, green, yellow and white lights, as was the museum and many other buildings. Stars decorated lamp posts. Eagles too flew the streets, though this is a year-long exhibition through the BC Lions Club. The Empress, like the Vancouver Hotel and up on Grouse Mountain, had Christmas trees decorated throughout the space, from the companies who support the Childrens hospital. The Empress is also a wonderful place to stop for high tea!
Whilst everyone says summer is a fabulous time to be here, with all the added lights and festivity, a splendid city to spent some time … maybe even more time later, certainly more of the island to explore.
