Pender Island

Got to go to Pender Island, one of British Columbia’s Gulf Islands, with a friend. Was great to have someone familiar with the island to show me around. During winter especially, if you don’t have a car it isn’t easy to get around the sites. However in summer the population doubles and regular ‘car stop’ points makes hitching rides easier.

We stayed at the Poets Cove Resort which had fabulous views and sitting outside in the hot tub watching the sun set is a great way to conclude a day.
The resort is on the opposite side to the ferry terminal and shopping centre, which gives it quiet and secluded feel, a wonderful get away. It has mooring for boats and great facilities. Night activities included the local pub, well wasn’t anything else really except the pub! Played pool with the locals and had great nights out.

Apparently some great walks around the island. Though with spa treatments and beach walks didn’t get into the hiking. I went over to help my friend with her new venture which has some fabulous health and beauty products that have all natural ingredients, no chemical substitutes. There are very few brands that can claim this completely hence the ‘naturally enhanced’ statements. Even in the couple of days of using some of these products I was amazed at how my skin felt. After a year of travelling with different waters and range of chemical based products, my skin hasn’t been wonderful. Even though would always try to get products that were as natural as possible, there is always something added to add bulk and/or reduce the price. So to feel the difference with this product range so quickly was fascinating.

Anyway back to Pender Island. A great weekend get away and escape into nature. Water lapping at the rocky shores. Trees swaying in the cool breeze. Wherever you go there is somewhere quiet to find and admire the scenery.

Then could meet with locals and experience the local winter 'pub' life, very few tourists this time of year. When everything else closes at least there is still entertainment to be found! The couple of nights we spent, even with other thoughts, still ended up in the local pub, drinking and playing pool. Got some great tips on my shots and angles, which helpped my game dramatically. So watch out...
