Christmas Time (Part 2)

Whilst here alone, I can certainly say I’m not alone.

After breakfast I helped a friend make Gluhwein (German warm, spiced red wine) something we were going to share on the beach at sunset.
So with fun in the kitchen, and glorious aromas, filling up the morning. There were then only a few hours of daylight remaining anyway J. Decided to see if the ice-rink was open. Not only was it open, though most coffee shops and many stores as well. Even if a day not celebrated by many, it is still a public holiday. So enjoyed another day on the ice, and this time looked a little more comfortable, some of the time! Of course always interesting that as soon as you think you’ve got it, get a little speed up … splat, rear end hit’s the ground. Laughing, get up imagining the bruise to come, brush off the ice now attached to my jeans. Then I’m back to basics, like my body has totally forgotten all it had discovered before the fall. A few minutes later I was gliding single footed around the rink!

So with legs having a great Christmas workout, raced back to warm the wine a bit more and head to the beach to watch the sun dip on the horizon with some German friends. With a lovely sunny and clear day the sunset today was beautiful, even though the temperature on the cooler side, due to days of reduced cloud cover. So with inner warmth achieved, it was back for dinner. A great feast and many people to share the meal. Turkey, mashed potato and gravy, veggies made for a nice meal, finishing with a great piece of chocolate cake. The room had been decorated for the occasion as well, which created a low lit and special feel.

Later we were playing pictionary, German, French, Argentinian, Russian, all enjoying the game together. Of course some interesting moments due to language and meaning. Regardless all had fun. Then in the smaller hours, those who were still up Salsaed the morning away. Was again interesting to reflect on aspects of cultures represented and experienced in a single day.
